Steddfod 2002
On 8 August, Gruff played a solo show at Solfach Memorial Hall as part of Steddfod 2002. Just 175 tickets were offered, and sold out quickly. Here's a report from Marc of ffarout.com:
"Quite simply the best gig i've ever been to, and will ever go to in my life, check the setlist! Very much similar to the FurryMania bingo shows - bingo balls were involved, except with a few slight differences....... Not only armed with just an acoustic guitar, Gruff also had his big red electric guitar, and a keyboard which played the funniest of beats for each song."
"Setlist (in a rough kind of order & some missing): Breichiau Hir (Ffa Coffi Pawb), Ysbeidiau Heulog, Gwn (Ffa Coffi Pawb), Cryndod Yn Dy Lais, Sali Mali (Sali Mali puppet duet), Y Teimlad, Dean Ser (Gorky's cover), Gwyneb Iau, Fflachwch Drosda I (Ffa Coffi Pawb), NEW SFA track to finish. The new SFA track was in Welsh, and was gorgeous, as ever. An emotional rollercoaster of a gig. The Sali Mali duet made me laugh out loud - Gruff singing a verse then the Sali Mali puppet having the next. To dedicating Y Teimlad to Dave R Edwards was lump in the throat and tears in the eyes time. Superb. Good to see Rhys Ifans and other SFA members in amongst the crowd too in the Gruff gig, and in other nights on Maes B. A near 2 hour set from Gruff, with Mr Huw Stephens "Rolio Peli". The stuff of legends."
Marc's photographs of the night are available in the Files section of the Super Furry Animals Internet List. Dylan reports that the new song is entitled Rhagluniaeth Ysgafn. LooLoo says Gwreddiau Dwfn was in the set and Stefan recalls hearing Y Brawd Houdini. ~ 14 August
Live from Benicssim Festival

Recording & Touring
Super Furry Animals are currently working on their sixth studio album and they have confirmed their second US tour of the year, to take place in the autumn. These dates follow their sold out jaunt across the States this spring. The band will also play the Benicssim Festival in Spain on Saturday, 3 August.
These shows, all performed in surround sound, will be the last SFA live dates anywhere in the world until 2003. The band will complete their new album on return from these North American shows and are planning to release the as-yet-untitled album in the first half of 2003. Check back to www.ringsaroundtheworld.co.uk for more updates. A new www.superfurry.com website will launch in September. ~ 2 August
