Summer 2000
Super Furry Animals . MwngThis summer, Super Furry Animals released Mwng, then set sail for a tour of North America. The band spent July in the forests of upstate New York surrounded by woodland creatures, continuing work on the next album. Escaping certain fate as bear food, SFA went around the globe to play Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. From a ski-slope to an Irish racetrack, next stop was the Witnness Festival, held outside Dublin. Read a review on DotMusic and visit their photo gallery. NME join Gruff, Bunf and Guto for a video interview.

Super Furry Animals have had some interesting opening acts, but nothing like the patriotic anthems of The Last Night of the Proms at the Ross-On-Wye International Festival in August. Then the last blast of summer--August bank holiday weekend. On Friday, SFA headlined the Radio 1 Evening Session stage at Glasgow Green Festival in Scotland. BBC Radio 1 Session: Scotland has a backstage video interview with Gruff and photographs from the show. Saturday, it was south to Reading Festival. Thousands brave the pounding rains, which curiously stop just before SFA take the stage. The set is webcast by Mean Fiddler. (Visit the site for an archived interview.) Sunday, the bill moved to Leeds. Visit Virtual Festivals for reviews and photos from the weekend. ~ 1 September
